SenseMakerTM

The cognitive sciences tell us that human beings are evolutionarily better equipped to recognise visual patterns than to process symbolic information such as number sets or tables. When it comes to the analysis of our collected data, we employ the powerful Cognitive Edge SenseMakerTM Software Suite.

SenseMaker
TM holds the collected narrative and associated contextual information in a powerful dynamic database, which can be explored in real time through a variety of visually intuitive workspaces.

Each workspace displays the selected narratives in a variety of different formats. One representation displays each narrative fragment as dot, building up a series of dots aligned according their coherence with a chosen set of parameters.

Multiple parameters may be selected to explore a wide variety of issues germane to the study, for example the degree to which a certain experience is evidenced in the responses, by a selected age group, of a specific gender, in a specific locality.

The Cognitive Edge
SenseMakerTM Suite

The powerful Cognitive Edge SenseMakerTM Suite was originally developed in the context of risk and anti-terrorism assessment for Government, however its application has now entered the public domain.

Small Landscape 1

SenseMaker
TM is a powerful complementary alternative to more traditional tools such as question and answer surveys.

The software database and linked methods allow the collection and tagging of multiple items besides narrative anecdotes, including pictures, web sites, blogs or any form of descriptor that most suits the contributor, all of which can be accessed on a just in time basis.

SenseMaker
TM creates a powerful ability to visualise a market, based on the attractor mechanisms in play around which customer behaviour will orientate, with quantitative measurement supported by narrative to create context.

It enables a quantitative approach to be taken in understanding motivational and other issues that are traditionally handled by qualitative approaches, and includes visual representation of culture and cultural change.

Dots representing individual narrative fragments, called Sense Making Items (SMIs) immediately arrange themselves on the workspace, their position on the screen relative to the degree to which the enquiry was a significant factor in the contributed story.

In this fast, intuitive way, commonly reported experiences or beliefs cluster, forming visual patterns which can be interrogated at a mouse click to reveal the original, unedited anecdotes.

Supported by a range of quantitative statistical tools, change over time, the impacts of various experiences and scenarios, and weak signals of threat or opportunity can all be monitored for, quickly, intuitively and responsively.

In this powerful, dynamic, real-time environment, with statistics reduced to patterns, subtle nuances, trends, or areas of interest that may be anomalous or difficult to find to in numeric data sets become immediately obvious.
